Creative DSM Spotlight: Genna Cristoforo
Hello, Genna here! I wanted to take the time to really introduce myself and dive deeper into who I am and what I am all about. I grew up in a small town called, Mt. Pleasant, in Southeast Iowa, so community and family have always been important factors in my life. Once I graduated high school I moved to Ames and began my adventure at Iowa State. Now I am currently a senior, majoring in Graphic Design and minoring in General Business. Throughout my years here at Iowa State I have been involved in the on campus magazine, TREND. TREND is a fashion, beauty and lifestyle magazine that is put together by students every semester. This semester I am the Online Graphic Design Director. We work to put together monthly issues based off of different current events going on in the world.
Outside of school I can be found cheering on the Cyclones, football season is my favorite time of year here in Ames. I also enjoy day trips to Des Moines with friends. We love the Downtown Farmers’ Market and exploring the many different breweries and restaurants Des Moines has to offer.
Social Media and Personal Growth
As my time is wrapping up here at Iowa State, I look forward to the future, and all it has to offer. I always have had a love for design and media, which is something that I can thank my father for since he had me hooked on photography at an early age. In my 21 years of existence I have watched social media come to life. I remember in 7th grade when Instagram came to be, and how quickly it gained popularity. Social media has always been an interest of mine, and as I continue to work with it, I am constantly amazed at all it can do. I am learning everyday, and with this new knowledge I am able to constantly grow and understand what works and what doesn’t work when it comes to social media and digital marketing.
With my time here at Creative DSM, I have enjoyed learning about the many different small businesses Des Moines has to offer, and seeing the community come together with all the challenges we have faced in 2020. Des Moines is a very special place, and I am so glad I get to be a part of this experience.
